Paying It Forward
March 2009

Charles Thorne's students in Martin County have tackled a number of community and public service projects over the years,
including the following.

  1. Set up a computer lab at the Robersonville Cultural Arts Center and created a wireless bridge to allow them to have access to the Internet using the wireless already in place at the nearby elementary school.
  2. Set up a computer lab at the Who Will So Ever Church in Edenton.
  3. Set up a computer lab at the Senior center here in Williamston
  4. Set up a computer lab for public access in Oak City.
  5. Set up a computer lab and wireless in the Memorial Baptist Church in Williamston.
  6. Set up a computer lab and classrooms in the New Wynn Chapel Church as well as create a wireless bridge from the cultural center of the church to the administration offices.
  7. Wired up Martin County Special Services Administration offices located at Williamston Middle School.
  8. Set up a computer lab for the QTL Center in Raleigh.
  9. Set up the computer lab for QTL in the Telecenter.
  10. Wired and set up a lab at Jamesville High School.
  11. Wired and set up a lab at Beargrass High School.
  12. Set up wireless connections to the mobile units, gym and special ed buildings at Beargrass High School.
  13. Built and set up Ubuntu server here at the Northeast North Carolina Telecenter to host our Moodle site as well as the NC SkillsUSA  Moodle testing site.
  14. Wired up the Mass Pharmacy here at the Telecenter location.
  15. Additional work at the Telecenter.
