Digital Media Training
During Winter 2012 we are offering a one-day orientation for new teachers. The next full new teacher training will be late Summer 2012. We will also offer 2-day workshops focused on HTML, CSS and desktop publishing for Digital Media teachers who are beginning to teach Multimedia & Webpage Design.
Digital Media Orientation
One-Day Workshop for New Teachers
This one-day session introduces the Digital Media course and ExplorNet Digital Media program to new teachers. It will also cover basics of digital audio and digital video, with an emphasis on equipment, classroom management, instructional strategies, required content, and appropriate projects and activities.

Multimedia & Webpage Design "Gap" Training for DM Teachers
This two-day session is designed for certified Digital Media teachers who will now also teach Multimedia and Webpage Design. It addresses differences in the two courses, with an emphasis on web code (HTML & CSS), desktop publishing, and other topics covered differently in MaWD. Sessions will model strategies for teaching the content to high school students, with an emphasis on hands-on learning.

Full New Teacher Training
ExplorNet, in cooperation with NCDPI , is planning the next Digital Media new teacher training session in Summer 2012. The five-day training will meet the NCDPI requirements for initial training for new Digital Media teachers, covering each of the major content areas of the course.
- Day One - Course Overview and Podcasting
- Day Two - Graphics/Photoshop
- Day Three - Animation/Flash
- Day Four - Video Production
- Day Five - Web Development/Dreamweaver
The training will illustrate how a Digital Media program can offer students a variety of experiences that open doors for numerous careers. Topics include:
- Each of the major subject areas in NCDPI's Digital Media curriculum (audio, visual, graphics, animation and web development);
- Recommended equipment and software;
- Classroom/lab setup;
- Effective classroom strategies;
- Participation in an online PLC for Digital Media teachers across NC;
New Digital Media Teacher Certification/Endorsement Training
This five-day session meets state certification/ endorsement requirements and prepares teachers to teach Digital Media I & II.
